1st Annual Summer Takeover to Raise Awareness, Education And Counseling for HIV/AIDS in Washington, D.C. July 25-27

Washington, DC (PRWEB) July 23, 2008 -- EM Enterprises & Antonio Brown & Associates in conjunction with the HIV/AIDS Organization Planned Parenthood & The National Black Justice Coalition unleashes its 1st Annual Summer Takeover event to raise awareness, give education and counseling for HIV/Aids on July 25th -27th 2008. The event, which will combine high fashion and entertainment, is also seeking to raise awareness, educate and offer free testing for HIV/Aids. Shaun Wright-Verdun, Public Relations Director for the event said, "It is important to raise awareness of HIV/Aids because the statistics are alarming and it was especially important for us to get Planned Parenthood involved because the statistics for individuals under 25 were amazing."

*An estimated one million people are currently living with HIV in the United States, with approximately 40,000 new infections occurring each year. 70 percent of these new infections occur in men and 30 percent occur in women. By race, 54 percent of the new infections in the United States occur among African Americans, and 64 percent of the new infections in women occur in African American women. 75 percent of the new infections in women are heterosexually transmitted and half of all new infections in the United States occur in people 25 years or younger.*

Expect to enjoy a weekend of Art, Music, Fashion and discussion on this very unique disease and it's affect on the community. For its 1st annual event, The Official Summer Takeover will showcase a fashion show by the world renowned fashion designer, Kenny Flannagan of KAS Collections. The fashion show will be hosted by celebrity guest BET'S Tocarra. Other celebrity hosts involved with The Official Summer Takeover include former B2K band member Raz-B, Family Matters Jaimee Foxworth, Noah's Arc Jensen Atwood and Comedian Mike Brooks.
