Suspecting a Yeast Infection? Here's How to Identify One
It can be confusing to distinguish between a yeast infection and a STD (sexually transmitted disease.) Strictly speaking, a STD is considered a genital disease, and not a STD. It is wise to know what you are dealing with, because in the event of it being a yeast infection or even a STD, you will need to heal as quickly as possible. There are many things that cause a male yeast infection. Often it can be passed from a woman suffering with a Candida yeast infection to her sexual partner. Diet also has a large role to play in causing yeast infections. Foods rich in carbohydrates and sugar, and yes, yeast, can cause a yeast infection. Using perfumed soaps can aggravate an attack. Prolonged use of antibiotics can cause a yeast infection because the antibiotics are not only killing the bad bacteria but also the good bacteria that is keeping your infection in check. There are quite a few other factors that can cause a male yeast infection, including stress, spermicides and even wearing very tight spandex jocks. Here are some ways to identify a male yeast infection: Your genital area will be uncomfortable; it will itch and will feel very tender, especially after sexual intercourse. You will find that your penis will be red, or may have red tender spots in certain places. You may notice a white discharge coming from the tip of your penis. Besides the genital symptoms you will also notice other changes in your body as your body is attacked. You may find that you are much more tired than usual and do not have your usual energy levels. People around you will start to notice how grumpy you are, as you will be feeling unusually irritable and perhaps even depressed. Your memory can take a hit too as the Candida makes its way through your body. Your concentration levels will drop and you will even experience aches in your muscles and joints. A good indication that you are suffering from a yeast infection and not any other STD is that you will suddenly be craving carbohydrates - bread, beer, chips and pasta. You may also start to suffer from indigestion. You will also notice that you have picked up weight around your middle, the traditional 'beer belly,' even if you don't drink beer! A yeast infection can be brought under control in less than two hours! A trip to the GP should be first on the agenda. In most cases you will be given a cream that you will need to apply to your penis. Any antibiotic cream that contains an active ingredient called AZOLE will sort you out in no time! It is good to keep a tube of this in case of recurrence of your yeast infection. The good news is that you do not even have to visit a GP should you feel a yeast infection coming on, because these antibiotic creams are available over the counter. The most important thing is to apply your cream religiously because if you do not complete the specified number of days for application, you could have a relapse very quickly!
